This week in class, we played a game to prepare for our test, which will be the Monday we come back from fall break. I will grade notebooks that day as well, so make sure those are complete. Also, students need to complete the GRAPES page about Mesopotamia and the Article Review. Both of these are at the end of the unit 1.

Today in class we reviewed page 18 and examined how this asked us critical thinking questions and not just recall questions. Then we completed a test prep poster in our groups. We will have a test when we return from fall break. For HW this week, please complete pages 29-39. This includes Unit 2 review. We will go over that in class next Monday, so make sure that is complete. I will also grade notebooks in class on test day, so students should make sure that Units 1 & 2 are completed in their notebooks.
We started our Mesopotamian Civilization unit with asking some questions about the civilization. We will cover the Unit 1 concepts in a combined test over Unit 1 and Unit 2. For HW this week, students need to complete U2 Concepts 1-5. I also offered an extra credit opportunity! Students are asked to write questions for each unit. For any questions they did not get answered in our reading, they can research the answer and write a page of a few facts (bulleted list or paragraph form is fine) and I will give them extra credit!
Today we finished up the cafeteria incident with introducing some new information and then relating that back to how we have basically history detectives trying to determine all the pieces of history. We also played a quick game of history "pictionary" if you will. Students had to draw any concept or idea from the reading and then the team had to guess. For HW this week, please complete Unit 1 (all concepts) including the unit review. We will not take a test when we return. Instead, we will combine Unit 1 and Unit 2 Concepts for a test.
Today we built our binders and discussed the expectations for the class. We also learned about annotations and how to actively engage with our reading. For homework this week, it's pretty simple, students need to read, annotate, and do Unit 1 Concept 1 of their binder. Come prepared to discussed what you learned!
