A Candyland Style Game
Print an extra set of the sight-word cards. Cut them apart, shuffle them, and place them face down in a pile.
Each player chooses a game piece and places it at START.
On your turn, draw one word card from the pile.
Read the word aloud.
Look ahead on the game board and find the next space with that word.
Move your game piece forward to that space.
Put the card in a discard pile and the next player takes a turn.
If the draw pile runs out, shuffle the discard pile and keep playing.
First player to reach the end of the trail wins!
Important rule: Just like Candy Land, students move to the next occurrence of the word—not whichever occurrence they choose. That keeps the game moving and gives the randomly repeated words on the board a purpose.
