Today we finished up our Pollack paintings for everyone and I introduced some seasonal stations. We did pumpkin platforms with a few materials. We will continue to keep these in our rotation for the month of October.
Today we added our third and final layer on our Pollack paintings. We used string to drag paint across the top of the paper. These look very cool! We also did some written observations about our art and the movement.
Today we worked with adding a second layer to our Pollack paintings (dripping) and then we tilted our papers to make the paint move across the paper. We discussed friction and movement in different directions.
Today we learned about Jackson Pollack and how he liked to use movement with his art. Then we went outside and did some spray painting. We focused on using movement, gravity, and proximity to create different effects in our artwork. We will return to this art piece for the next few weeks!
Today we built our binders and discussed what we'll be learning about in our class. Then we listened to the story What Do you Do with an Idea? and discussed how we share our ideas in this class. Then we practiced sharing our ideas with our friends in lots of different STEM stations. I will be keeping everyone's binder in the classroom because that is our book for learning in this class! If a student leaves his/her book at home, we won't have anything for them to work in for the day. At the end of the year, students will be allowed to take everything home!
