The navigation bar at the top will take you to the different areas of the website.
Writing: Here you will find my original writings including poetry, my publications, and even my dissertation!
Virtual Learning Academy: This little corner of the website displays the online courses I teach. Want to practice literacy skills? Here is where you will find the listings and info!
Curriculum Guides: Perhaps you'd rather purchase curriculum based upon well-loved books? You can find curriculum materials for purchase available here.
Teaching: Here you will find information about the cooperative in person classes I teach. If you are a student of mine, you will find your class information here.
Book Reviews & Recommendations: Finally, you'll find some books my kids and I have been recently reading and our thoughts about them.
I have been a teacher all my life! When I was a little girl, I used to line my stuffed animals up across my bed and play school.
My PhD is from The University of Tennessee.
Middle grade books are my jam!
I usually read about 150-200 books a year.
I taught in public school for 8 years before moving on to teach college kids!
I hate mayonnaise!
I love games, hands on activities, word sorts, and etymology.
I'm so glad you are here. I wear a lot of different hats (though most of them have to do with education). I'm a mom, wife, doctor, educator, reader, and writer. On this site, you will find things I've written and read and my thoughts about them. You'll also find (what I think are) cool teaching ideas.
One of my passions is writing curriculum for literature. My undergraduate degree is in Interdisciplinary Studies, which is where I really understood the benefit of layering learning through many disciplines. My master's degree is in literacy--the advanced teaching of reading and writing. I have always been a reader, so it seemed natural that I would begin designing curriculum with books at the center. My PhD studies further thrust me into the world of books! My doctorate is in Children's and Young Adult Literature. Giving students books to read and awesome activities to accompany those books is just one step in my goal to make everyone a reader!
